Read all about our apprentice Olivia and follow her journey from when she joined us back in December to begin her apprenticeship.
I began my apprenticeship in December last year and I’m already 9 months in… It’s gone ridiculously quick! But I have learnt so much already. When I first began my apprenticeship I saw social media as a way of keeping up with my friends and family, but never in a business orientated way! Yet 9 months in I can clearly see the benefits of a business introducing social media into their marketing plans.
My apprenticeship is a level 3 diploma in business innovation, growth through social media & entrepreneurial skills, which is a bit of a mouthful but what it really means is looking at how a business can grow by introducing new ways of promoting themselves and what steps you have to take when starting out a business.
I work between two different workplaces, one here at Opportunities Workshop and the other at Tilston Phillips, who are behind the publishing of The Best of Suffolk and The Best of Norfolk annual guide. Both environments are totally different, which I really enjoy! As it means I am never doing the same thing everyday! At Opportunities Workshop I could be out networking with clients, updating the social media, creating MailChimp campaigns, promoting new and exciting courses or even gathering testimonials and updating the website. Meanwhile, when I am at Tilston Phillips I could be doing anything from photographing places, food, items for blog posts, attending events, running competitions, joining in networking hours on Twitter to even trying out and reviewing food for the website (my favourite part!).
Since doing my apprenticeship I have met so many interesting and inspiring people and it has opened up so many opportunities for my future in social media marketing and marketing in general! Opportunities Workshop have been amazing and I am so pleased I got the apprenticeship. It’s been an adventure and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store for me in the future! Watch this space!
