If you’re finishing college or your A-Levels this year, but you still have no idea what you want to do, don’t panic. You don’t need to know exactly where you want to be in the future, no one really does.
A lot of students feel as if the next path from studying at college or their A-Levels is university, but this isn’t necessarily true.
University can seem very daunting and expensive – plus there is no guarantee of a job after when you have completed your degree and you’ll also potentially be in £27,000 of debt, along with your living costs. Eek.
On the other hand, you could apply for an apprenticeship and earn whilst you learn. That means no student loans, no tuition fees, and, hopefully, no debt. You’ll be paid a salary by your employer and the government tends to cover the cost of the training.
So what is an apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships are structured training programmes which give you a chance to work (literally) towards a qualification. They help you gain the skills and knowledge you need to succeed in your chosen industry. Getting into employment earlier means there’s lots of potential for you to progress in your career quickly. You can also begin to earn a good salary much earlier on in your life.
There is plenty of choice of apprenticeships too, here at Opportunities Workshop we offer apprenticeships in:
- Health & Social Care
- Social Media
Check out what current apprenticeships we are advertising here.
However, if you don’t fancy doing an apprenticeship but do have a career in mind and feel some extra skills in a chosen subject would help you get the job better – then you may want to consider job training courses. We offer a wide variety of training courses that you may be interested in at Opportunities Workshop, click here.
